On April 25, 2009, Adam performed a cover of Steppenwolf's "Born To Be Wild" as part of the American Idol 8 Top 7 Movie Songs week mentored by Quentin Tarantino. After a blazing and somewhat manic performance, Simon Cowell attempted to complain by comparing it to the Rocky Horror musical. Adam quickly replied "I love that musical!"
