Adam Lambert Essentials - Singles And Music Videos

For Your Entertainment Era

Adam shot a music video for every single from the "For Your Entertainment" album.

The first single - "For Your Entertainment", a song originally written by Claude Kelly and Dr. Luke for Britney Spears - was released on November 3, 2009, with the music video released on November 24, 2009.

It was followed on by the Pink, Max Martin and Shellback-penned "Whataya Want From Me" which became Adam's highest charting song and earned him a Grammy nomination. The music video was released on January 15, 2010.

The third single - "If I Had You" - was released on May 11, 2010. The music video came out on June 14, 2010 and featured a number of Adam's friends, including Alison Iraheta from his season on American Idol, Kesha, Cheeks, and more.

Trespassing Era

Two music videos were released to accompany the singles from the "Trespassing" album in 2012.

"Better Than I Know Myself", written by Claud Kelly and produced by Dr. Luke, became a single on December 20, 2011, with the light vs. dark side video following on February 3, 2012.

"Never Close Our Eyes", written by Bruno Mars and produced by Dr. Luke, became a single on April 14, 2012, and the THX-1138-inspired video was released on May 29, 2012.

A lyrics video for the song "Trespassing" was also released, featuring a Ford Mustang driving around LA - the type of car Adam received from the sponsors of American Idol (on the show he was handed the keys to a Ford Fusion Hybrid, but he wanted a muscle car and got one). Over the following 10 years he also drove a BMW, a Bentley, and an Aston Martin.

The Original High Era

Two music videos were released from the "The Original High" album in 2015 to accompany the two singles.

"Ghost Town" was released as a single on April 21, 2015, with the Hype Williams-directed video following on April 29, 2015. The single is the most streamed Adam Lambert song on Spotify and YouTube.

"Another Lonely Night" became the second single in October 2015. The music video directed by Luke Gilford was shot in Las Vegas and was released on October 9, 2015.

Post-Original-High Era

A music video for the "Welcome To The Show" song was released on July 6, 2016. A live performance was featured on American Idol, and the song was part of "The Original High" tour, including a guest performance by Lale at the Los Angeles show.

The song "Two Fux" did not get a music video, but it was eventually performed live by QUEEN + Adam Lambert, causing some confusion among the QUEEN portion of the audience...

The Velvet Era

Adam released the song "Feel Something" as an introduction to the music of the new era under the Empire label on February 21, 2019, two days before opening the 91st Academy Awards with Queen.

A week later, on February 28, 2019, he also dropped a video with a live studio recording of the song:

On May 15, 2019, the first single from the "Velvet" album entitled "New Eyes" was released officially as both record and music video, the latter appearing to be part 1 of a series of music videos with a common theme.

The first live performance of the song was broadcast during the American Idol 17 Finale on May 19, 2019, however it was pre-recorded a day earlier to allow Adam to perform Bohemian Rhapsody live with a contestant during the finale.

In reality, the first live performance was taped for the Ellen show on May 14, 2019, but it was scheduled for actual broadcast on May 31, 2019.

As initially suspected after the release of "New Eyes", the video for the song "Comin In Hot" released on June 25, 2019 was labeled "Velvet, Part II". Interestingly, neither song was part of the "Velvet Side A" EP.

As the release of the "Velvet Side A" EP approached, on September 3rd, 2019 Adam released the music video for the lead single "Superpower". It is also the opening track of the record. While there is no official label "Part 3" to connect this video to the previous two, visually there are links - Adam is driving the same car seen in "Comin In Hot", and is even wearing a (temporary) wig to match the hairdo from the previous video to provide some continuity.

Then on October 28, 2019, a live session video dropped, and it was every bit as good as the studio recording...

After the release of the "Velvet Side A" EP, a live session performance of the second-most-streamed song from the record behind "Superpower" - the ballad "Closer To You" - appeared on YouTube on October 14, 2019. Glamberts around the world lost their minds, and Billboard called it a "vocal masterclass". Eventually it was confirmed by Adam's publicist on October 25, 2019 as the official new single for Germany, UK and Australia:

On November 4th 2019, just a week after the release of the "Superpower" live video, the "Overglow" recording from the same session was released on YouTube.

It took about 3 more weeks for the next live session performance to come out - on November 26th 2019, we got the Prince-channeling "Loverboy"...

At that point, logic dictated that there would be two more live videos before the end of 2019 - "Stranger You Are", and "Ready To Run". And indeed, they were released on December 20th and December 31st, 2019, respectively:

Finally, on March 19, 2020, one day before the official release of the full "Velvet" LP, Adam dropped the music video for the title song:
